How to certify a service dog in Canada?
So, you want to know how to certify a service dog in Canada? The very first thing that I would suggest you to do is to check your provincial regulation. And, get in touch with your local town hall because they will give you good reliable advice. You can also ask them for more information and guidance. I have listed below links to resources for every province.
I have found that some Canadian provinces are better than the others, in terms of providing quality information about service dogs.
For example, BC, Alberta and Nova Scotia government has some useful information on their website. On the other hand, it is almost non-existent for Saskatchewan.
So, you have to do your own research and as I said before start with your town hall and seek information from them.
There are two ways on how to certify a service dog in Canada:
- You need to get your dog trained from an accredited school.
- Then, apply for public safety test.
